This report from the Life Enrichment Center international Ngo, in collaboration with Epicenter Kingdom Norway and various volunteers, paints a detailed picture of the ongoing humanitarian efforts to address poverty and support vulnerable families in Ethiopia, specifically in Addis Ababa and beyound. The project demonstrates the country's socio-economic challenges, especially as it navigates through rapid changes in politics, development, and social upheaval over the past 40 years. Despite being the second most populous African country, Ethiopia continues to struggle with poverty, affecting nearly 68.7% of its population, as highlighted by the latest World Bank data. The impact of poverty, particularly on women, children, and the elderly, remains dire, but local and international organizations are working to provide relief. In the recent intervention on September 22 and 23, 2024, immediate support was given to 60 family members across two sub-cities in Addis Ababa. A touching account of the distribution event in Kolfe Keranio Wereda 05 illustrates the deep emotional and practical significance of such initiatives. The collaboration between government health centers, local volunteers, and international partners allowed for the distribution of essential food items to families in urgent need. The program involved speeches by key individuals such as Mr. Mussie, a member of the support committee, and Pastor Nebiyu, representing Epicenter Kingdom Norway in Ethiopia. Health workers like Sister Aberash also played a crucial role, particularly in gathering information and organizing the families in need of assistance. The emotional responses from the beneficiaries, many of whom were moved to tears, underscore the importance of such community-based humanitarian programs.
